Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean to be licensed and certified?
An LMT, or Licensed Massage Therapist is a therapist who has passed the national board exam in Massage Therapy known as the MBLEX. The MBLEX is the qualifying national exam that requires a passing score to legally identify a Licensed Massage Therapist from anyone who wishes to call themselves a Massage Therapist or practitioner. To be eligible for this exam, a Massage Therapist must complete a minimum of 600 hours. State requirements vary with regards to further certifications. WARNING: The state of Wyoming is one of the few states that does NOT currently require Massage Therapists to be licensed.
Why do I have to fill out a Health Intake Form?
Health Intake Forms are important because some conditions may be considered dangerous for massage including but not limited to conditions such as congestive heart failure, uncontrolled blood pressure, some forms of cancer, blood clots, DVTs, recent surgeries, high risk pregnancies, contagious skin conditions, and others. Most of the time, Massage is safe and beneficial for just about everyone. There are, however, some considerations and it is important to be thorough and honest when filling out a health history form as this will protect both client and practitioner.
Should I come to my massage appointment if I have a cold?
Please be courteous and reschedule your appointment if you have any signs or symptoms of the cold or flu, especially if you’ve just noticed them. You will not be charged a penalty fee for rescheduling if you are sick.
Should I tip my therapist?
Here in America, the tipping culture is common practice especially in the service industry. That said, when receiving a massage from Anatomia Massage, our prices are carefully determined with all costs already in mind, so you shouldn’t feel obligated to tip in addition to the cost you are already paying. While tips are always appreciated, the only feelings we want you to walk away with are good ones, not guilty ones.
